Fiastra and the Lame Rosse – between history and nature

Programme:

Departure at 8.00 am with GT bus to Fiastra. Arrival at the Abbey of Fiastra. Meeting with the guide and guided tour of the abbey founded in the twelfth century by the Cistercian monks. The itinerary of the visit touches the most important premises of the monastery: the church, the cloister, the chapter house, the refectory, the cellarium and the oil mill hall that houses a collection of archaeological remains from Urbs Salvia. We will also visit the Wine Museum, the ancient cellars of the Abbey and the garden of Palazzo Giustiniani Bandini. Stop for packed lunch. In the early afternoon transfer to the starting point for the excursion to Lame Rosse, one of the most famous and fascinating places of the Sibillini Mountains. The route is a path with a difference in altitude of 200 meters and 7 km (between return) that begins on a dirt road to continue under a forest mainly formed by holm oaks, almost always in the shade suitable for everyone. Blades are pinnacle-shaped formations and towers consisting of gravel held together by clay and silt, formed thanks to weathering erosion. Return to Fabriano in the evening.
